Many people debate who actually moved the Fred the mannequin from is normal position in the video store.
The creatures, known as “Darkseekers,” did, however, exhibit some level of intelligence and communication skills in the film. They could set traps and communicate with each other to coordinate attacks, but there is no indication that they moved the mannequin as a trap. Personally, I think this is the only logical explanation for Fred the Mannequin being moved.
Ultimately, the film leaves the answer to this question open-ended, which adds to the mysterious and unsettling tone of the movie.
